Diversity in the Community

You will find that Lawrence and the surrounding area have much to offer. Lawrence is home to the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University. Because it is a small city (88,000) with a large student population (29,272), Lawrence has a small-town, friendly atmosphere with many of the attractions of a big city.
Kansas City
Kansas City
The Kansas City metropolitan area (population of 1.8 million) has many fine restaurants and shopping areas. The Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, Missouri, is about 50 miles from Lawrence. Shuttle services offer transportation to and from the airport if arrangements are made in advance.
Topeka
Performing Arts
Topeka, the state capital, is 25 miles west of Lawrence, and provides a variety of attractions.
